This is one of the oldest houses in Szczawnica, standing at the southern end of the eastern frontage of Dietl Square.

The Swiss-style villa was built in 1852 to a design by Józef Szalay. Its first floor housed two flats, both with balconies overlooking the square. In 1902, Kazimierz Przerwa-Tetmajer lived here for a week, and for many years the company doctor Onufry Trembecki had his office here.

On the ground floor there was a post office until the 1860s and later on there was a shop that sold glass cups for drinking the spa water. In the second half of the 20th century, the villa was used as staff housing. One of the occupants was the doctor Tadeusz Bańkowski.

Between 2006 and 2008, extensive renovation was carried out, with the villa being restored to its historic form. Today, it houses the Café Helenka, which occupies the site of the former Spacer Gallery from 1857–1858 along the eastern frontage of the square, rebuilt in 2005 after a fire.

Directly behind the villa in the Upper Park (Park Górny) stands the spa chapel designed by Józef Szalay.
