They are located in the southern part of Zakrzówek horst, which is visibly lifted in relation to the surroundings along fracture zones and edged with trenches – depressions utilised by watercourse.
Differences in altitude reach up to 50 metres. The rocks are mainly built from limestone which was exploited in nearby quarries, now closed. Karol Wojtyła, later Pope John Paul II, worked in one of them during the occupation.
