During the Nazi occupation, the Płaszów Camp was organised in place of two Jewish cemeteries.
The macebas from the cemeteries were used to harden roads and as foundations for the camp barracks. The monumental building of the funeral hall was blown up. The remains of the Płaszów camp have been preserved to this day. In the postwar period, in the territory of the former camp several monuments were situated, including the most monumental Memorial to the victims of fascism.
