It is one of the most popular places in Zakopane. Gubałówka, rising to a height of 1123 meters above sea level, closes the Zakopane basin stretching from the Tatra Mountains with Giewont in the foreground. From the top, there is a beautiful panorama of the Tatra Mountains and practically all of Zakopane. Therefore, Gubałówka is not only the most famous peak of the winter capital of Poland, but also one of the best viewpoints of the Tatra Mountains, Zakopane and Podhale.

As early as in 1938, the top of Gubałówka was connected with Zakopane by a modern funicular that moved along the built track with one passing loop. The investment was created in preparation for the FIS World Ski Championships, which took place in the capital of the Tatra Mountains in 1939. The funicular to Gubałówka is 1,298 meters long, and the vertical rise is about 300 metres. Two carriages are used to transport tourists, passing each other in the middle of the route. After 2001 modernization, the funicular can take up to 2,000 people to the mountain top within an hour. The funicular to Gubałówka operates all year round, short technical inspections of the equipment are carried out only in the autumn. The bottom station of the Gubałówka funicular is at the end of the Krupówki extension: from the crossing of the promenade with Nowotarska and Kościeliska streets to the very slope. Next to the top station, there is a huge observation deck, with sun loungers, among others, to rent on sunny days. There are also many of catering facilities, including a restaurant building parallel to the funicular. The beginning of the legendary ski hill is also located at the top station. Unfortunately, due to the lack of consent of the owners of the land which it is marked out on, the route has been closed for several years. At the moment, skiers and snowboarders can use the short T-bar lift on the Polana Gubałówka in winter. A snowboard chute and a snow park are also being prepared there, while in the summer there is a special slide.  Every year in the winter season, Gubałówka attracts you with the wonderful “Land of Light”, that is over 1 million LED lamps that illuminate the area around the top funicular station.
