The Imperial Russian Army

Piechota rosyjska
The Imperial Russian Army, colloquially known as the tsar army, was among the largest armies in number in Europe. Organizationally, it encompassed 14 military divisions. The army consisted not only of Russians, but also of representatives of other nationalities and ethnic groups, such as the Tartars, Cossacks, Lithuanians, Poles, Ukrainians, or Finns. The official language was Russian. The basic uniform of the Russian infantry in 1914 consisted of the uniform jacket, simple trousers and a side cap in the brown-olive colour.
